Faith for the Future - 2009 Capital Campaign

Faith for the Future

The final results for the Faith for the Future campaign will be released on February 26, 2010. New information and totals will be posted then. Thank you for your generosity!

We are blessed. For generations, God has blessed us with talented men of faith to lead us in love, to nourish us by His word and to renew the Church with His Sacraments. Since the establishment of the Diocese of St. Louis in 1826, we have seen dozens of our own priests ordained as bishops to go on to serve in dioceses throughout the United States. While many hold a prominent place in our history, it is the parish priest who is central to the daily spiritual growth of individual Catholics. We come to know him and share our lives with him.

We are fortunate. In the fall of 2008, Kenrick-Glennon Seminary had its largest enrollment in the past 20 years. Our prayers for vocations are being answered and God has given us a seminary that is nearly filled to capacity. Now it is our responsibility, as good stewards of His gifts, to provide an appropriate facility and the necessary resources for our seminarians’ education and formation.

The seminary trains virtuous, good, holy, healthy, intelligent men of service for ordination to the priesthood. Our priests ensure that the hunger for a genuine spirituality and the desire for living communities of faith will be satisfied. Our priests carry on the rich traditions of sacramental and liturgical life central to our faith. The future of our faith rests on our priests.

Words of the Archbishop

Archbishop Robert J. Carlson

Together with the priests of this archdiocese, we want to make sure that we shape, form and mold the very best seminarians in the United States. I don’t want a seminary that’s number two. I want a seminary that’s number one. And with the priests working with me, and all the different (deaneries) of the archdiocese, I know that we’ll be able to have that kind of seminary that trains people for what they’re going to find when they go out to serve the people of our parishes.

What better way to transform the world through a civilization of love than by taking an active role in fostering vocations and assisting in providing the financial resources required to preserve one of our archdiocese’s most important assets — Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.
